Native Voices
Unveiling the Myths behind the Headdress, Moccasins and Tipi
Stereotypes and false representations of the Native American community continue to hinder attitudes of respect and inclusion of all people. The Diversity Awareness Partnership and the St. Louis Public Library would like to dispel the harmful myths and the misinformation that has been circulated for decades around the Native American community. This community awareness forum is designed to address current issues and stereotypes faced by Native Americans in the United States. The panelists for the forum will include scholars from the Kathryn M. Buder Center for American Indian Studies at Washington University.
