Dream Keepers Fair

The Diversity Awareness Partnership in collaboration with St. Louis colleges and universities within the St. Louis Metro Area will host the 1st Annual Dream Keepers Fair on Saturday, April 19th from 11:00am-5:00pm. This all day, city-wide event is centered on the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It will begin with a two-minute moment of silence on the street symbolic of the division--Compton Avenue (Between Olive and Market).

The Dream Keepers Fair aims to encourage people to cross the street to become more aware of social justice issues and begin accepting the great diversity within the St. Louis community.  Following the tribute to Dr. King, there will be live entertainment; an art showcase; community resource, college and job fairs; and tons of activities for youth.
Check out the website for more information: http://www.stldreamkeepers.org
Please stand united with us on Compton Avenue!

  • Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee Updates

DAP formed a committee on sexual orientation and gender identity with the goal of promoting awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) diversity within the community.  The committee has moved forward on a communications strategy for its ongoing work: a creative multi-media educational campaign that will further the community’s understanding and awareness of the roles, contributions, achievements, and struggles of LGBT individuals within our region.  DAP sent out a Request for Proposals (RFP) to 47 St. Louis advertising agencies requesting an advertising and marketing partner to accomplish our campaign. We have received enthusiastic responses from 10 agencies so far and hope to announce a formal partnership with an agency in September of 2008.

  • Diversity Speakers Bureau

Is your company or organization looking for a diversity speaker? The Diversity Awareness Partnership will deliver a speaking and training on a variety of different diversity topics: implementing diversity into your volunteer and staff recruitment, building awareness and acceptance around issues of sexuality orientation and disability, and many more. Please contact Reena Hajat at 314/436-7628 or rhajat@dapstl.org for more information.
