What is it?
The Diversity Arts Program is a 2 week-long comprehensive arts and diversity summer retreat for youth ages 14-18. Participants weave the performing and visual arts with dialogue about social justice to increase awareness and understanding about key diversity issues.


Program Goals:Through an exploration of the artistic process, students will:
- Explore and share their identity through the following artistic media:
Theater Visual Art Media Art Creative Writing & Spoken Word Movement
- Explore how various forms of intolerance, including racism, sexism, classism, able-ism and religious intolerance negatively impact a community.
- Build familiarity and community with a diverse group of peers representative of the wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds that exist in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Washington University in St. Louis
(One block from Forest Park and Skinker Metrolink Station)
Dates and Time of Program:
July 5 – July 17, 2010
9:00am - 4:00pm daily
Open Mic and Gallery Opening (for a public audience)

Who is Invited to Apply?
Youth between the ages of 14-18 from the St. Louis Metro area.
No artistic experience is necessary, only a desire to use the creative arts to build community and hone their skills as future leaders.
